Max’s career in music started at age six, when he began classical piano lessons. At thirteen he bought his first synthesizer (a Roland D-50!), and to this day continues piano performance and electronic music production. He earned his Music Degree in 1999 from Wabash College, and also studied in London for Electronic Music Composition. After school he went to work for Sweetwater Sound, where he built a client roster including artists like Nine Inch Nails, Stevie Wonder, Moody Blues, and John Fogerty. Max also works as a Stage Manager and Audio Producer for the Chicago Humanities Festival. His favorite moment of the last five years since first working with the festival was as Stage Manager for a sold out lecture by The Simpson’s creator Matt Groening where he had ample time to hang out with one of his all time heroes. Max is incredibly knowledgeable not only with a plethora of different types of music, but also working a wide variety of high profile events. Throughout the year, Max is an instructor with Chicago’s teen apprenticeship program, After School Matters. What does he teach, you ask? DJ’ing, of course! It is literally After School Style Matters.
