Neighborhood DJ, record collector, pop-culture fan, amateur chef, beer snob and bike ride enthusiast, Matt enjoys the art of moving the dance floor and getting lost in the groove.
Matt’s love affair with music started early on through the absorption of his father’s eclectic record collection, playing in various garage bands and making bedroom “mix tapes” using local radio stations as his medium. Growing up outside of Chicago looking in, Matt made the move to the Windy City in 2008 and never turned back. With a thirst for live music and good times, he hurled himself into the nightlife scene as a head-bobbing spectator always looking for the after party. This is where he found his love and appreciation for the DJ.
Fashionably late to the party, Matt has developed his technical skill and music knowledge with a sponge like quality and never sticking to one genre of music for very long. He has held down residencies at The Burlington, Bar Deville and Bonny’s (R.I.P.) where he hosted Soul Motion, spinning weekly six-hour marathon sets of funk, soul and hip-hop. A new addition to the Style Matters crew, Matt is excited to work along side some of the very DJ’s who inspired him to slap on the ear goggles and get busy.
